Brainstorm #5

Film Noir

Film noir offers such an interesting and emotional visual aesthetic. This semester it would be good fun to inject some of this unique style into one of my video projects. It would be interesting to use this visual style where one might not expect it. For example, a documentary or music video inspired by the visual rules of film noir could be different and challenging, yet rewarding if successful.

Brainstorm #4

Board of Canada Music Video

Before the release of Boards of Canada's most recent album, this video was released as a promotion of sorts. The video featured what appeared to be a rough edit of cryptic images and scenery which had lated reappeared in the official video for their song "Reach for the Dead".

I find these videos inspiring and thought provoking and I would enjoy making something similar for another band or musician.

Brainstorm #3

Koyaanisqatsi Inspired Time-lapse

Koyaanisqatsi is one of my favorite films and it's one that has always mystified me since I had first seen it as a child. I'd really like to experiment with time lapse filming, slow-motion, or even intense camera height or angle, similar to the formal techniques exhibited in Koyaanisqatsi.

Brainstorm #2

University Dining Commercial

Another idea is to produce a commercial for one of the dining centers on campus. The concept would be simple and would aim to highlight the dining options available to students.

Brainstorm #1

Pet Food Commercial

One video idea that I have is to make a commercial for a pet food company. The video posted above is one of many clever and creative commercials made to promote Friskies cat food. It would be a fun challenge to make something similar with my own cat.
